Client: Tim Morawetz, Glue Inc. (2017)

Project: Art Deco Architecture Across Canada: Stories of the country’s buildings between the two World Wars

Specialty: The first-ever compilation of Canadian Art Deco-style buildings located in big cities and small towns, this 320-page book provides a unique portrait of what life was like in Canada between the late 1920s and the early 1950s. More than 150 works of architecture are featured in the book, ranging from high-profile office towers, city halls and department stores, to apartment buildings and private homes, churches and neighbourhood movie theatres. It contains nearly 450 colour photos and over 100 black-and-white period photos, each with detailed captions that explain the architectural and decorative features of each structure. Informative and entertaining stories, written in a friendly and accessible style, accompany each of the buildings.

Nominated in the Historical Writing: Book category at the 2018 Heritage Toronto Awards.

TEC’s proofreaders carefully proofed each page of text and accompanying captions, flagging corrections and reproofing second pages as needed throughout the production process.
